Welcome to "Number One Says," now currently on the playoff superhighway!
Number One says:
The first elimination game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs took place last night, and it ended with the Philadelphia Flyers winning, 2-1, to stay alive. Even so, the Flyers are down 3-1 against the Washington Capitals, with Game Five taking place in DC tomorrow. Let's not forget, however, that the Flyers are one of the few teams to come back from an 3-0 series deficit, doing so in 2010. The Red Wings and Blackhawks face elimination tonight, with Game Fives taking place in Tampa and St. Louis.
My 2016 MLB Predictions:
AL East: Yankees
AL Central: Royals
AL West: Astros
AL Wild Cards: Orioles and Tigers
NL East: Nationals
NL Central: Cubs
NL West: Dodgers
NL Wild Cards: Giants and Mets
Six of the eight NBA Playoff series are 2-0 after the first two games. Only the Raptors/Pacers and the Thunder/Mavs series are even at 1-1, with Dallas' Game Two victory coming after Steven Adams' game winning shot was waived off after replay clearly showed that he still had his hand on the ball at the final buzzer.
The NFL schedules were released last week, and as for the Packers, we will have five games on the usual national TV spots: a Thursday nighter against the Bears on Week 7, a Monday game in Philly on Week 12, and three Sunday night games on NBC (Week 2 @ MIN, Week 5 vs NYG, and Week 11 @ WSH). We also have home games against the Cowboys and Seahawks this season, and I suspect those games will be nearly nationally televised.
As for the Los Angeles Rams, their season will start on Monday, September 12, as they will face the 49ers in the second half of the traditional opening week MNF doubleheader. Six days after that is the Rams' home opener against the Seahawks; the first NFL game in LA since 1994.
The #1 Burning Question of the Week: Which NHL team has the best chance of coming back from a 3-1 deficit?
